Basic how to cook brown rice recipe.
1 cup brown rice
2 cups water
A little salt if desired, not necessary
Bring water to a boil.
Add the rice and stir.
As soon and the water starts to bubble slightly turn the heat down to low, just barely simmering.
Cover and cook for 30 minutes. Once you cover the rice don’t stir it again or take the lid off until it’s ready to eat. Then turn the heat off and leave the pot covered on the hot surface for at least 15 minutes.
The temperature of stoves vary. You will have to experiment to find out how low to turn yours. I put mine on low, right between the L and the O, for years and then I started noticing that the rice was turning out a bit watery. So I started setting it just a little bit higher, just past the “O” and it worked great again. I suppose the stove is just getting old. It’s a bit like people I guess, we have to make adjustments as we age.
